April 17,\u00a0Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong>\u00a0Stakeholders at a general meeting have approved U\u0142adzimir Kozyr, a former Committee for State Security (KGB) officer, as director general of the MTS mobile operator. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kozyr has served as chief of the KGB Minsk and Minsk Region Department since July 2020 and until recently, and headed the agency\u2019s Operational Search Department before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MTS claimed he has extensive experience in economics and communications. He was trained as mechanical engineer in 1990s and holds a degree from Management Academy under the President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kozyr filled the position left vacant by U\u0142adzis\u0142a\u016d Anrej\u010danka, former parliamentary speaker U\u0142adzimir Andrej\u010danka\u2019s son who stepped down a few days ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus’ Bie\u0142telekam state-controlled telecommunications company holds a 51-percent stake in MTS, a joint stock company, while Russia’s MTS holds a 49-percent stake. MTS has 5.7 million subscribers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
