April 20, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The stockpiles of unsold industrial goods increased by 3.3 percent since January 1 to 9.26 billion rubels ($2.83 billion) on April 1, the Belarusian National Statistical Committee (Bie\u0142stat) reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inventories rose by 2.3 percent year on year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first quarter the inventories accounted for 68.5 percent of the average monthly production volume, according to Bie\u0142stat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka on April 9 expressed concern about the build-up of inventories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Warehouses are bursting. In 2023, inventories increased by 23 percent,” he said. “The responsible deputy prime minister is reassuring me: it’s ok and it is always like that, we are going to sell everything. But we measure these stockpiles period to period. And how much equipment is stored at dealerships, which for many have become additional overseas warehouses?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka said that the trading houses of the Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) stored almost 6,500 pieces of equipment, more than it produces in two months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Bie\u0142stat, industrial production in January\u2013March amounted to 44.16 billion rubels, an increase of 1.8 percent over the same period last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mining grew by 1.8 percent and manufacturing by 2.4 percent. Electricity, gas and hot water supply shrunk by 1.8 percent. Water supply, waste collection and pollution control decreased by 0.3 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
