April 23, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The Council of Ministers has limited payments of profit and dividends to owners and shareholders of Belarus-based companies from “unfriendly states” to 3.2 million rubels (about $981,000) until the end of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local executive committees may lift the restriction for companies that meet certain criteria, for instance if profits are under 50 percent of the average amount of foreign direct investment over five years, says Directive No 299. A company must be debt-free to qualify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian authorities consider Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union, Switzerland and other countries that imposed sanctions on Minsk as unfriendly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Directive No 299 has been published on the National Legal Internet Portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2023, the government issued a directive requiring stakeholders from \u201cunfriendly countries\u201d to open special rubel accounts for dividends and profits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In July 2022, the government compiled a list of Belarusian companies with stakeholders from these countries, prohibiting them from selling their interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original list included 190 entries and was reviewed several times later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government raised corporate income tax for foreign entities from “unfriendly” states from 15 percent to 25 percent from April 1 through the end of 2026. The move came weeks after Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka simplified procedures to seize property from owners from “unfriendly” states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
