April 23, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> In “conditions of strict secrecy” Belarusian authorities are preparing to restrict men subject to compulsory military service from traveling abroad, the BelPol association of former police officers reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It noted that this “alarming” information was received from “several reliable sources” at the Ministry of Defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRestrictions on the right to travel for the specified category of persons will be automatically introduced when the dictator’s usual draft call is published,” BelPol said. “They will be lifted at the end of the draft campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It went on to say that Belarus has two annual draft campaigns, in spring and fall, each lasting “about four months.” Therefore, draft-age youths will be prohibited from traveling abroad for eight months of the year, it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the association, the authorities will cite national security concerns to justify the measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
