April 25, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian and Russian special services are becoming more active across Europe ahead of the upcoming European Parliament election, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He cited European countries’ leaders who reported more evidence of Russian attempts to interfere in the election scheduled from June 6 to 9, including by using violent methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russian security services recruit people in the European Union to prepare terrorist acts in Poland and other countries, Tusk said. He did not specify any further details for security reasons, as many of the reported cases were classified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 19, Tusk said a Russia-linked Belarusian was arrested after ordering two Poles to assassinate Russian opposition activist Leonid Volkov, a close ally of late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volkov was attacked on March 12 in Vilnius. He suffered multiple injuries, including a broken arm. An unidentified man tried to beat him with a hammer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on the attack, Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja said that Belarusians who had fled from the regime of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka did not feel safe even in democratic, free countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMany Belarusian activists have already faced the situation of being followed in the streets of Lithuania and Poland, being photographed by strangers and receiving anonymous threats,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
