April 27, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian pro-democracy forces have forwarded files on the state-run ONT<\/em> and STV<\/em> television stations to the European External Action Service for inclusion in the European Union’s sanctions, Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka of the opposition transition cabinet has told Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In early June 2022, the EU sanctioned the Belarusian State Television and Radio Company (BSTRC) for dissemination of propaganda and firing employees for their political position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canada, Switzerland and Ukraine joined sanctions against the BSTRC, while many of its managers and employees are also under personal sanctions by the EU, the United States and other countries, \u0141atu\u0161ka noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) terminated membership of the BSTRC in 2021 after it broadcast a controversial interview with jailed blogger Raman Pratasievi\u010d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EBU will not reconsider its decision unless the BSTRC and officials in Minsk change their policies, \u0141atu\u0161ka stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
