May 3, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> A new criminal case has been opened against \u0179micier Da\u0161kievi\u010d, said his wife Nasta Da\u0161kievi\u010d (Pa\u0142a\u017eanka).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to her, the former leader Malady Front opposition group has been charged with violent disorder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There were two months left until the end of the current sentence. I have no words, only endless and permanent pain,” she said on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January, she said that she feared for his health and life because he has been held incommunicado for more than six months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Da\u0161kievi\u010d should have been released in July 2023 after serving 1.5 years for attending a protest rally. Instead, prison authorities accused him of gross disobedience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three months later, Judge Ta\u0107ciana Dzieravianka sentenced him to another year behind bars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Human rights defenders designated him as a political prisoner, noting that the first sentence was imposed in connection with a peaceful rally that did not pose any threat to national or public security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
