May 6, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Russia threatens the existence of Belarus and Ukraine as it does not view them as independent states, Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has said in her lecture at the Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania’s Kaunas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moscow seeks to “enslave and colonize” both countries using different methods, the politician noted. “In Ukraine, [Vladimir] Putin fights with shells and tanks, and in Belarus, it is a creeping occupation,” she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Russia is absorbing our economy, military, cultural and media space. It destroys our national identity, language and culture.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyiv’s victory in the war against Russia will open a window of opportunity for Belarusians, she said, noting that changes in Belarus will also help Ukraine win, delivering a heavy blow to Putin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksadar \u0141uka\u0161enka keeps suppressing dissent, resistance and all signs of solidarity as he is well aware of it, the politician added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus lives in an atmosphere of terror not seen since the Stalin era, yet Belarusians continue to resist in the underground “despite all the repression, propaganda, and paralyzing fear,” Cichano\u016dskaja noted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
