May 6, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> “We can win against dictators without weapons. We have other instruments,” opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja said today in Kaunas after a lecture on regional stability and security at Vytautas Magnus University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her statement comes amid accusations by Minsk that foreign-based Belarusian opposition is planning to use the force of arms to overthrow the government in Belarus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are not attacking, we are protecting Belarus and the Belarusian identity,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I am absolutely convinced that a peaceful change is more sustainable for the country,” she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She went on to say that Belarusians “should be smarter than simply taking a violent approach.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sometimes it seems to people that they can use violence and bring down the regime,” Cichano\u016dskaja said. This seem like such an easy way but the example of other former Soviet nations shows us that regimes easily defeat unarmed people, she stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
