October 26, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> “No threats have ever emanated from Russia or Belarus to anyone,” claimed the head of the Union State, Dmitry Mezentsev, in Minsk. His remarks at the international conference “Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World” were quoted<\/a> by TASS<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Mezentsev, who was Russia’s ambassador to Belarus in 2019-2021, “no one can ever say that Belarus and Russia were not open to dialogue,” but “the West’s reluctance to cooperate with the Union State on the basis of an equal dialogue is a factor we must take into account.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mezentsev went on to say that defense, military, and political cooperation in the Union State are not the only key factors in “raising the regional security level.” Another factor is “showing the world a completely unique mode of cooperation, which was outlined by Alaksandar Ryhoravi\u010d \u0141uka\u0161enka and Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin as they discussed the goals of economic integration at the Supreme State Council on November 4, 2021.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov said in July that “the very first step of NATO troops or any other aggressor across the Belarusian border would be their last” because “there will be no half-measures, no final warnings and no warning shots in the air.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Even the Belarusian army by itself is a very professional, motivated and dreadful force, and we advise everyone against confronting it,” the envoy warned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
