May 15, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has revised upward its forecast of Belarus\u2019 GDP growth for 2024 from 1.3 percent to 2.8 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Western sanctions are likely to affect growth in the short and medium term, with the GDP growth slowing down from 3.9 percent recorded in 2023 to 2.2 percent in 2025, the analysts noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Eurasian Development Bank expects Belarus\u2019 economy to expand by about 2 percent this year; the International Monetary Fund, by 2.4 percent; the World Bank, by 1.2 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian government projected a 3.8-percent growth for 2024. In the first quarter of the year, the GDP rose by 4.1 percent year on year, according to its official statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
