May 19, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Only the holders of Belarusian passports will be able to vote in the upcoming election for Coordination Council, Alena Prychod\u017aka, in charge of the electoral procedures, has told an opposition conference in Warsaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security and authenticity are a priority, she said, noting that the opposition has no technology to verify other ID documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusians can vote via the Belarus ID app available for download starting May 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People inside Belarus will also be able to vote but they should take necessary precautions, such as downloading the app no earlier than May 25, the first election day, deleting it afterwards and cleaning up device history. All personal data of voters would be encrypted and secured, Prychod\u017aka assured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The election is scheduled from May 25 to 27. Its new members are expected to convene on June 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities in Minsk designated all candidates running in the election as extremists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
