May 25, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> A massive DDoS attack on the Coordination Council (KR) voting platform has been repelled, according to a video disseminated by Alena Prychod\u017aka, chairwoman of the KR election commission, in the early hours of May 25, shortly after the incident was announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prychod\u017aka said the platform received about 18 million requests. She asked Pavie\u0142 Libier, whose team developed the online voting and verification system, to comment on the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Nothing terrible happened,” he said. “There was a rather strong one-off DDoS attack at the beginning. Because of that, we tweaked the way the voting was launched to make sure it would successfully withstand the shock. So we started it a little later. Will the voting end later? I think it will be decided by the election commission.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Prychod\u017aka, 750 tokens have been distributed to voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The KR election began at midnight and was originally scheduled to end at 23:59 on May 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack) is a way to deliberately disrupt the work of a resource by overwhelming it with a large number of requests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially, a dozen electoral lists were registered. However, one of them – Law and Order, led by ByPol head Alaksandr Azara\u016d – was disqualified from the race yesterday over alleged abuse of the Pieramoha Plan (Victory Plan) clandestine chatbot, which connects the exiled opposition with the activists inside Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s regime designated all 12 electoral lists as extremist groups. The Investigative Committee opened criminal cases against 257 people who had announced their intention to run for the KR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
