May 26, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Guard of Light memorial honoring the victims of political reprisals in Belarus has been desecrated in Vilnius, LRT<\/em> reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The memorial outside the Belarusian embassy displays pictures of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s victims and Belarusian volunteers killed in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is reported that “some portraits were toppled and candles were broken” in the “act of vandalism.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The memorial was damaged by an “inadequate” individual, the police said. He was arrested and taken into custody. An investigation is underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 26, media reported that the memorial was partially damaged by the unknown. Diaspora members restored the Guard of Light on the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pro-Russian blogger Laurynas Ragelskis had tried to ruin it in October 2020. He was charged with inciting hatred and desecrating a memorial place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
