May 30, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The House of Representatives, the lower house of the Belarusian National Assembly, has ratified a Belarusian-Vietnamese treaty on the transfer of convicts to serve their sentences in their home countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the document, “upon request, the parties shall transfer to each other convicts serving their sentences of deprivation of liberty for committing crimes in the transferring party to serve the remainder of the sentence in the receiving party,” the press office of the House of Representatives said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Issues related to the execution of the sentence will be regulated in accordance with the national law of each party. The party may decide on pardon, amnesty or the commutation of the sentence, about which the other party will be informed,” the statement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement was signed, among others, during a visit by Belarusian Prime Minister Raman Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka to Vietnam in December last year. The prime minister also signed an intergovernmental agreement on the abolition of visas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus signed a similar agreement on the transfer of convicts with Iran on March 13, 2023. Minsk ratified it in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
