May 31, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Border guards from Po\u0142ack, Viciebsk region, and Minsk riot police arrested a Belarusian national on May 29 in Ma\u0142adzie\u010dna, Minsk region, on suspicion of smuggling, the State Border Committee reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The arrested man served in the French Legion from 2000 to 2005 and participated in combat operations in Africa, it added, noting that the law enforcers seized drone assembly parts, a handmade air rifle, a German Mauser rifle, ammunition, French Foreign Legion badges and medals and Nazi symbols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators also accused him of posting in opposition Telegram channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man told police that he assembled drones for personal use and that it was his hobby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past two months, Belarusian border authorities have reported seven arrests in four incidents of illegal use of drones in the border area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
