June 1, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Lithuanian border guards have suspended truck traffic at the Medininkai checkpoint at the Lithuanian-Belarusian border until 6 pm on Saturday, citing technical reasons, the Belarusian State Border Committee reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cross-border traffic of passenger vehicles and buses has not been affected, it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lithuanian side did not release any announcements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Medininkai border crossing is one of the two checkpoints open for traffic between Belarus and Lithuania. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August 2023, Lithuania closed its \u0160umskas and Tvere\u010dius checkpoints, and in March 2024, Lavori\u0161k\u0117s and Raigardas, leaving only Medininkai and \u0160al\u010dininkai to handle the cross-border traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vilnius cited national security, smuggling and international sanctions as the reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
