June 3, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The bias of “certain journalists\u201d caused negative perceptions among some Mongolians regarding Belarus’ support of Russia’s war on Ukraine, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has told journalists in Ulaanbaatar, following his talks with Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Kh\u00fcrels\u00fckh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To justify the war, the Belarusian ruler cited the example of Genghis Khan, 13th century\u2019s ruler and founder of the Mongol Empire. \u201cIf anyone dared to offend his [Genghis Khan\u2019s] warrior, he wiped out the settlements and these people with sword and fire. What happened between Ukraine and Russia? The same thing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Western countries used Ukraine to prepare an attack on Belarus and Russia and prompted it to introduce sanctions against Belarus, he claimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUkraine was the first one to impose sanctions on us. Our dear, friendly Ukraine. . . We didn’t attack them and we didn’t tell them how to live,\u201d \u0141uka\u0161enka said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also repeated the Russian propaganda narrative accusing Ukrainians of \u201cburning Russian people\u201d in Odesa to justify the aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine allegedly failed to fulfil the 2015 Minsk agreements, using the ceasefire to arm itself against Russia, \u0141uka\u0161enka added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“How should Russia have behaved? Why do Mongolians . . . condemn Russia and all the more Belarus, which acted as a guarantor of peace talks?\u201d he said, accusing the West of pushing Ukraine to reject peace talks and continue confrontation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRussians do not want this war,” he said. ” I know it well. Why not sit down at the negotiating table? Why not come to an agreement? The Americans want to sink Russia in this confrontation,” he added, noting that the United States uses the war between Russia and Ukraine to weaken China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine in which the Belarusian authorities supported the Kremlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
