June 9, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Ten Soviet-made T-34 tanks have been transported by rail from Moscow to Minsk for the July 3 parade, the Belarusian defense ministry reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Siarhiej Tom\u010dyk, deputy chief for armament, the tanks are “in excellent technical condition and are ready not only for the parade, but also for a combat task if necessary.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Some of them took part in the parade at Red Square on May 9 this year, as well as in other Russian regions,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General rehearsals for the parade are scheduled for June 29 and July 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, the defense ministry reported that Iskander-M missile systems and more than 250 vehicles will be demonstrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 1991 to1996, Belarus marked Independence Day on July 27, the date of declaration of sovereignty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s referendum, the main state holiday was brought forward to July 3, the date of Minsk’s liberation of Minsk from Nazis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The T-34, which entered service in 1940, was the most produced tank during World War II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
