June 23, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Mercenaries from the Russian military contractor Wagner Group remain in Belarus to train personnel, Defense Minister Viktar Khrenin told STV<\/em> in an interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Gaining combat experience without fighting” is extremely valuable, the Belarusian minister said. Thanks to the Russian fighters, Belarusian soldiers received it in their homeland, he said, adding that Western intelligence agencies continued to monitor Wagner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Wagner Group specialists have shared and continue to share with us, first of all, their combat experience,” the minister said. This has allowed the army to do serious work and fundamentally change its training programs, making them “more practical” and focused on survival. The army “has moved away from regimentation” and “the programs have become more understandable.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on a recent joint tactical nuclear drill with Russia, Chrenin said Belarus plans to conduct similar events in the future to “maintain our level.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They will go on as planned. Some things will be announced, others will be a surprise. So, everything will be fine,” the minister said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He went on to say that Belarus is observing in the West “advanced preparation for war.” “You cannot trust anyone there. We see their aggressive plans and are making our own preparations,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are determined. Don’t interfere with us, mind your business, or better yet, let’s come to an agreement,” said Chrenin, who supports Russian aggression against Ukraine. If the situation escalates, “the whole people will have to defend itself,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s government conducts regular maneuvers, exercises and boot camps amid tension with the West and Russia’s war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chrenin’s interview was aired on the anniversary of Wagner’s failed rebellion against the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Defense. In line with agreements between Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and Vladimir Putin, some of the fighters moved to Belarus, where they instruct police and troops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
