June 24, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>More than 90 percent of German companies operating in Belarus assess their current situation as “satisfactory” and “good,” neg.by<\/em> reports citing a recent survey by the Representative Office of the German Economy in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey, conducted in cooperation with the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, involved 45 German businesses, among them 10 manufacturing and construction companies, 16 trade and 19 service companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All survey participants declared that they had been affected by the European Union’s sanctions against Belarus, with 70 percent describing them as “strong” and “very strong.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some 40 percent of respondents agreed that sanctions may cause medium-term damage ranging from \u20ac1 million to \u20ac10 million, yet more than half of them could not estimate their losses caused by sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

German companies are adapting to sanctions and even show cautious optimism, the survey said, noting that the number of companies that are unhappy doing business in Belarus fell twofold from the fall of 2023 to 8.9 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About 20 percent of German businesses in Belarus are expecting better performance, while pessimism fell to 15.6 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Almost two-thirds fear political and economic changes affecting their businesses in the next 12 months, which is significantly less than in 2023. Other perceived risks include supply chain disruptions and a lack of skilled labor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sixty percent of respondents are inclined to keep their businesses and investments at the current level, while 13.2 percent are planning to expand, according to the survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
