June 25, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> As part of the surprise drill launched four days ago, Belarusian special operations, missile and artillery troops are patrolling the southern border to prevent incursions by armed groups from Ukraine, the defense ministry reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The soldiers also train in blocking possible arms and ammunition supply channels that \u201cmay be used to destabilize the situation in Belarus,\u201d it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Troops are learning to use surveillance drones “to locate sabotage and reconnaissance groups and the build-up of mock enemy’s forces in inaccessible wooded and swampy terrain,” the ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus holds regular drills amid tension with the West over Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine, in which Minsk supports the Kremlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise was announced following reports of Ukrainian military build-up at the shared border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyiv dismissed the reports and the drill as an intensified information campaign aiming to escalate tension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBy imitating a threat from Belarus, the enemy is trying to cause panic, destabilize the situation in Ukrainian society\u201d and distract Ukrainian forces from other parts of the front,\u00a0the Kyiv-based Center for Countering Disinformation said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
