June 30, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Special operations forces are allowed to set up roadblocks and check cars and documents to secure the state border, the Homiel Regional Executive Committee has said on Telegram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with missile troops and artillery, the special operations forces have been training in the Homiel and Brest regions since June 21, it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Servicemen focus on strengthening the state border sections to prevent infiltration of armed groups and blocking deliveries of weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian authorities launched the surprise drill on June 20 following reports about military build-up at the border with Ukraine. Kyiv dismissed the accusations as an information campaign to escalate tensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past week, Belarusian state agencies continued spreading information about Ukrainian military and intelligence activities near the border. On Friday, Minsk ordered the deployment of a multiple-rocket launcher battalion to an unspecified location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, Andrej Sieviaryn\u010dyk, commander of Belarusian anti-aircraft missile forces, described the situation in the airspace as “tense,” noting a “sharp increase” in the number of reconnaissance drones that allegedly violate Belarusian airspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk \u201cimagines\u201d a military build-up and provocations at the shared border with Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for Ukrainian border guards, told pravda.com.ua<\/em> on the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine is ramping up fortifications at the border to defend itself, not to attack, he stressed, noting that the move does not pose a threat to Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
