July 2, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has working contacts with all European politicians who will take over the top positions in the European Union, political analyst Vadzim Ma\u017eejka has told Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities in Minsk have no such contacts, he added, commenting on the appointment of current Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas as the EU foreign policy chief and the election of Portugal’s former Prime Minister Ant\u00f3nio Costa as the new president of the European Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk should demonstrate internal changes to be able to improve its relations with the West regardless of who holds top jobs in the EU, Ma\u017eejka noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of reshuffling the government, authorities need specific steps, such as the release of political prisoners from the so-called humanitarian list whose prolonged detention places their lives under threat, he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
