July 8, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>The new European Union’s sanctions banning the <\/em><\/strong>import and export of certain goods also apply to individuals transporting retail purchases, Micha\u0142 Derus, a spokesman for the tax administration chamber in Poland’s Lublin region, has told Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customs officers are responsible for the implementation of sanctions against Russia and Belarus, he said, commenting about stricter controls of individuals transporting goods via the Polish-Belarusian border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspections may include a thorough analysis of documents, verification of the declaration for compliance with rules on sanctioned goods and physical inspection of the transported goods, the official noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The list of goods banned for export from the EU to Belarus features several hundred items, Pozirk<\/em>‘s analysis of EU regulations showed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest EU sanctions package adopted on June 29 includes a ban on supplies and transit of dual-use goods and technologies, with further export restrictions on goods which could strengthen Belarusian industrial potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EU also limited exports of luxury goods and maritime navigation goods and technologies, banning imports of gold and diamonds as well as coal and crude oil from Belarus, along with a new export ban on goods and technologies used in oil refining and the liquefaction of natural gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EU started introducing sanctions against Belarus in 2020, two years before Russia\u2019s war on Ukraine, accusing its government of vote rigging and human rights abuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian defense sector was targeted later for supplying arms to Russia and circumventing Western sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
