July 9, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Belarus reported a rise in unemployment for the second straight month in May, according to Pozirk<\/em>‘s analysis of data from the Eurasian Economic Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of officially-registered unemployed increased by 7.3 percent from 4,100 in January to 4,400 in May and from 3,900 in March to 4,300 in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January-May, employers hired 14.95 percent fewer employees than dismissed, 221,047 and 254,092, respectively, said the Belarusian National Statistical Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Eurasian Economic Union, unemployment has increased only in Belarus and Kazakhstan since the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Kazakhstan the number of unemployed increased by 24.5 percent (from 264,500 to 329,200).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Armenia, the number of people registered with employment centers fell by 5.3 percent (from 45,700 in January to 43,300 in May); in Russia, by 7 percent (from 405,600 to 377,300); and in Kyrgyzstan, by 10 percent (from 66,200 to 59,600).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
