July 11, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> At the request of tax authorities, the Polish interior ministry has frozen the assets of Polish company Tradeservice, founded by Belarusian citizens Alaksandar Dubina and Juryj \u0160pile\u016dski, and banned its operation for facilitating the circumvention of European Union (EU) sanctions against Russia, Rzeczpospolita<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Polish business daily said that Tradeservice officially exported luxury cars and motorcycles from Poland to Belarus for almost two years. However, the Polish National Revenue Administration (KAS) established that the vehicles were actually sold to wealthy buyers in Russia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

KAS said the cars were registered in Russia as being used in Russia and had Russian number plates. Most of them were declared for import to Belarus, but were not registered in the country, it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the agency, the Warsaw-based company RS Pro also helped Russia evade sanctions. It exported dual-use and high-tech products to Russia through entities in Azerbaijan and Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These goods were embargoed because they were used in Russian military systems found in Ukraine. Until April, the company was owned by Irina and Adrey Rybak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now it is owned by Illa and Julija Niem\u010danka, who have failed to disclose their citizenship to the National Court Register. The spelling of their names suggests that they are Belarusians, reform.news<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crackdown on companies undermining EU sanctions against Russia and Belarus reportedly followed several amendments made by all EU member states, including Poland, this year. The amendments empowered KAS to monitor goods exported from the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Businesses must now guarantee to customs authorities that their exported goods transiting Russia or Belarus will not be sold there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customs and tax authorities can now seize goods that violate sanctions and demand their confiscation, and the KAS head can impose a fine of up to PLN 20 million (about $5 million) for non-compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 29, the EU adopted a new sanctions package against Belarus. The list of goods, the delivery of which from the EU to Belarus was banned, contains hundreds of items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
