July 16, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Ministry of Labor and Social Security has expanded the list of professions eligible for simplified procedures to attract foreign workers, says its Directive No 50 published on the National Legal Internet Portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The list expanded almost two-fold and now includes 38 worker positions, allowing employers to hire foreigners after notifying the authorities. Recently added positions are mostly linked to leather processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The list of administrative and high-skill jobs remained unchanged and has 15 entries, including doctors and nurses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian economy employed 4.1 million people in May, 0.4 percent fewer than in January and 0.9 percent fewer than a year ago, according to the official statistics. The country is said to face a labor linked to population ageing and mass emigration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up to 500,000 people left Belarus after the disputed 2020 presidential election and crackdown that followed, experts from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe estimated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
