July 17, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka, deputy head of the opposition transition cabinet, met with Tomasz Cytrynowicz, in charge of the Polish Office for Foreigners, yesterday to discuss ways to crack down on profiteers selling appointments for submitting international protection applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician also discussed ways to speed up paperwork in Wroc\u0142aw, where about 300 Belarusians are still awaiting migration authorities\u2019 decisions, including on foreigners\u2019 IDs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cytrynowicz promised to ensure order and keep the situation under control. Next year, Warsaw plans to launch an electronic system for submitting residence permit applications, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hanna Macie\u016dskaja, of the Partyzanka volunteer initiative assisting Belarusian immigrants who fled politically-motivated persecution, urged Polish officials to prevent personal data leaks that could be used by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cytrynowicz agreed with her proposal to extend the validity term of temporary IDs currently limited to 90 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polish residence permits issued in 2022 on humanitarian grounds will expire in late 2025, and therefore Belarusians should plan ahead to replace these permits with ordinary ones ahead of the deadline, he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 130,000 Belarusians are currently holding Polish residence permits, while a significant number of applications is still under consideration, according to the Office for Foreigners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
