July 20, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Ivan Kra\u016dco\u016d will continue to serve as secretary of the Coordination Council after 68 percent of its members voted for his reappointment, the opposition body reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kra\u016dco\u016d is a member of the Youth Offensive faction. However, under the council’s charter, he must give up his membership to serve as secretary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kra\u016dco\u016d has been secretary since the first Coordination Council session in August 2020. Before, he was on the team of Viktar Babaryka, the banker-turned-politician who challenged Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka in that year’s election but was arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the election, Kra\u016dco\u016d was charged with conspiracy to overthrow the government and other alleged crimes. The Minsk City Court sentenced him to 11 years in prison at an in absentia trial in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The secretariat manages the council’s day-to-day operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
