July 21, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Russian government has approved a draft agreement on establishing the Union State’s unified energy market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drafted by the Russian Ministry of Energy, it was published on an official legal portal yesterday. The draft was approved by the Russian foreign ministry and “other interested federal executive authorities,” and preliminarily negotiated with the Belarusian government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The document is yet to be signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a meeting of the Union State’s supreme council in St Petersburg on January 29, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka said that Belarus and Russia have not yet fully decided on establishing common markets for gas, oil and petroleum products. He said he regularly discusses these issues with Putin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, \u0141uka\u0161enka noted that a single energy market is one of the key issues that needs to be resolved in relations between Moscow and Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a meeting with Putin in Minsk on May 24, \u0141uka\u0161enka reiterated the need to finalize the terms of Russian oil and gas supplies to Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that the matter has been discussed for several years. Putin has finally made up his mind, and it seems likely that the governments will finalize these agreements in the coming days, the Belarusian ruler added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
