July 22, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has urged officials to \u201cfind ways to cooperate\u201d with the European Union along with keeping close ties to \u201cfriendly countries,\u201d such as Russia and China, his press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf they need to buy something and we need to sell it on their market, it’s a mutually beneficial interest,\u201d it quoted him as saying at a conference with officials on industrial performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 1, the EU enacted a new package of economic restrictions against Belarus, punishing \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s support of the Russian war against Ukraine. New sanctions include an extensive ban on import, export and transit of a wide range of goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reacting to Western sanctions against Belarus since 2020, authorities in Minsk approved a list of “unfriendly states” that includes all EU member countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
