July 25, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Despite an increase in revenue from the sale of products, goods, works and services, the profit of Belarusian companies has contracted, according to Pozirk<\/em>‘s analysis of central bank statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January\u2013April, sales increased by 14.8 percent yearly to 137,057 million rubels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cost of products, goods, works and services sold increased by 15.7 percent to 113,452 million rubels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Net profit decreased by 11.7 percent to 6,161 million rubels. Return on sales fell from 7.9 percent to 6.6 percent. The profitability of goods sold fell from 9.8 percent to 7.9 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The share of unprofitable organizations went down from 16.8 percent to 15.7 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accounts payable rose 4.5 percent over four months to 83,909 million rubels on May 1. Accounts payable grew by 6.9 percent to 71,561 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overdue accounts payable increased by 3.3 percent to 10,047 million rubels on May 1. Overdue accounts receivable, by 11.8 percent to 9,992 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Debt on loans and borrowings rose by 5.6 percent, including overdue debt \u2013 by 3.9 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accounts receivable are a challenge for the Belarusian economy, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka told officials in October. “On receivables, I said there should be no excuses that payments are not going through or that something else is happening,” he warned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April, he declared that his demand to reduce external overdue receivables, which expanded by more than 10 percent in 2023, was unmet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In July, he demanded “strict payment discipline” on receivables and threatened CEOs with imprisonment for failing to exercise it. He complained that they sought cheap loans to restructure debts and expected the government to give them benefits and preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
