July 29, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Moscow’s Basmanny District Court on July 25 ruled to arrest two Belarusians, Mediazona Belarus<\/em> reports, citing unnamed sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jan Dziurbiejka and Alaksandar Dumbla\u016dskas are accused of mercenarism over alleged association with the Kastu\u015b Kalino\u016dski Regiment (KKR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dziurbiejka was captured during the Battle of Lysychansk on June 26, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In July 2023, opposition politician Valery Sacha\u0161\u010dyk told reporters that Dziurbiejka was alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dumbla\u016dskas was evacuated from Belarus in 2021 after spending 11 months in pre-trial detention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He joined the KKR after Russia began its full-scale war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kastu\u015b Kalino\u016dski Battalion was formed on March 9, 2022. Two weeks later it was incorporated into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in May it was transformed into a regiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk branded it an extremist group and opened criminal cases against its fighters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities sentenced dozens of Belarusians to lengthy prison terms for donations to the regiment or attempts to join it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 24, the Minsk Regional Court sentenced German national Rico Krieger to death after finding him guilty of mercenarism and other serious crimes, including alleged association with the KKR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
