July 30, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has expressed support<\/a> for “the brave people of Venezuela” who are demanding a fair vote count in the presidential election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said that Belarusians also voted for democratic change, and hundreds of thousands took to the streets to protest against fraud in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A day earlier, Cichano\u016dskaja said that Venezuelans had clearly spoken for democratic change in Sunday’s election, and that this choice must be heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 29, thousands of opposition supporters protested in Venezuelan cities as electoral authorities declared President Nicolas Maduro the winner. According to Venezuelan media, police and military used tear gas and rubber bullets against protesters in Caracas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Official reports said Maduro won 51.2 percent of the vote, slightly ahead of the united opposition candidate, former diplomat Edmundo Gonz\u00e1lez with 44.2 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Independent exit polls showed that 65 percent of voters were in favor of Gonz\u00e1lez, while 14-31 percent supported Maduro, according to Reuters<\/em>. The opposition claims to have copies of tally sheets showing a clear victory for Gonz\u00e1lez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
