If the trend continues, in July-September, the figure will &#8220;exceed 100 destroyed organizations per quarter and near the average, which includes the 2022 peak of repression against NGOs,&#8221; Kor\u0161una\u016d said. In the third quarter of 2022, 229 NGOs dissolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lawtrend human rights organization estimated that 2,174 NGOs maintained their licenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lawtrend director Volha Smalanka said there is no access to credible data on the Belarusian third sector because the state register of legal entities is outdated. Some of the NGOs it lists have not renewed their licenses since the 1990s, Smalanka added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At least 1,696 NGOs, including associations, trade unions and foundations, were disbanded between the 2020 presidential election and the end of June 2024, according to Lawtrend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>August 1, Pozirk.
