{"id":99900,"date":"2024-08-09T18:10:15","date_gmt":"2024-08-09T15:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/99900\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"uk-announces-new-belarus-sanctions","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/99900\/","title":{"rendered":"UK announces new Belarus sanctions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>August 9, <em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The UK has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/uk-announces-new-belarus-sanctions-to-mark-anniversary-of-sham-election\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">sanctioned<\/a> four former and current commanders of penal colonies and three entities from Belarus in a coordinated action with international partners that marks four years since \u201cthe deeply flawed presidential election and start of the crackdown on civil society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UK also announced \u00a32.5 million of planned funding to support the survival of Belarusian human rights and civil society causes in the face of continued political pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the designations, Foreign Secretary David Lammy said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFour years on from the brutal scenes we witnessed in Belarus, Lukashenko\u2019s relentless crackdown on civil society has shown no signs of abating: over 40,000 citizens arrested on trumped up political charges, civil society and independent media trampled and a regime with no regard for democracy or human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe stand with the people of Belarus and their pursuit of freedom and democracy and call on the regime to release all political prisoners immediately and unconditionally.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The companies are AAT StankaHomiel, a Belarusian machine tool manufacturer exporting goods to Russia for use in the Russian military industrial sector; AAT NDIEVM, a government-affiliated entity carrying on business in the Belarusian defense sector; and TAA Ruchservomotor, a Belarusian machine tool manufacturer exporting goods to Russia for use in the Russian military industrial sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May, the UK restricted the import of Belarusian aluminum and the provision of support services related to its deliveries and banned trade with Belarus in some critical-industry goods and technologies, covering electronics, navigation and avionics, and aerospace and propulsion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, the UK sanctioned the Precise Electro-Mechanics Plant (Zavod Dak\u0142adnaj Elektramiechaniki) and Planar (P\u0142anar) in a package timed to coincide with the second anniversary of Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In December, it expanded sanctions against Minsk by blacklisting 17 judges and prosecutors.
