{"id":99964,"date":"2024-08-10T07:41:52","date_gmt":"2024-08-10T04:41:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/99964\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"reprisals-two-arrests-new-extremist-designations-reported-on-august-9","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/99964\/","title":{"rendered":"Reprisals: two arrests, new extremist designations reported on August 9"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>August 10,&nbsp;<em>Pozirk<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp;Instances of political persecution documented on August 9 include two arrests and extremist designations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Mediazona<\/em> reported that police in Minsk arrested Vadzim Fa\u0142amieta\u016d and Raman Ci\u0161kievi\u010d in connection with 2020 postelection protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interior ministry has added 19 persons to its list of designated extremists, which contains 4,292 entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Twelve of the additions are held behind bars: Juryj \u0160\u010durko, Michail Darahoj, Jahor Vo\u0142ka\u016d, Andrej Siam\u010duk, Siarhiej Vysocki, Barys Hrynkievi\u010d, Pavel Alekseyev (a Russian), Alaksandar Ancichovi\u010d, Kanstancin Kapytok, Artur Pied\u017ako, U\u0142adzimir Balabanovi\u010d and Hlieb Sachar. The three latter have been designated political prisoners by human rights groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of August 9, human rights defenders identified at least 1,385 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented.
