This expectation followed the exit of Western competitors and a partial adjustment to sanctions imposed in 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the surge in demand proved short-lived. The Russian market quickly became saturated with cheaper Chinese products, while rising war-related expenditures and stagnation in civilian industries eroded consumers\u2019 purchasing power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compounding the problem, many Russian consumers continue to favor Western goods, even at higher prices via parallel imports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-flourish wp-block-embed-flourish\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" title=\"Interactive or visual content\" src=\"https:\/\/flo.uri.sh\/visualisation\/24330173\/embed#?secret=bPFP3CIAOE\" data-secret=\"bPFP3CIAOE\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" height=\"575\" width=\"500\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Officials look to new markets<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In response, the Belarusian government has intensified diplomatic and trade efforts to find new markets in Russia, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
