Łukašenka accepts invitation to visit Baku for UN climate change event
October 3, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka to visit Baku in November for the UN Climate Change Conference COP29.
The Belarusian ruler confirmed his intention to participate as he met Asadov in Minsk today, his press office reports.
Strong ties between Minsk and Baku does not harm third countries, Łukašenka stressed.
The meeting comes amid tension between Minsk and Yerevan over the Belarusian government’s overt support for Azerbaijan’s capture of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Over the last decade, Łukašenka supplied Azerbaijan with weapons, despite Belarus being a member of Russia-led military alliance which includes Armenia.
Shunned by the West, Łukašenka uses UN climate change events to criticize the United States and its allies.
