Parents drunk as house fire kills two children

(Investigative Committee)
October 15, Pozirk. Two girls aged three and five died in a fire in Sienica near Minsk yesterday afternoon, the emergency situations ministry’s press office reported.
The children’s parents were heavily drunk and left the children unsupervised, investigators said. One of the girls told parents before her death that she had set the curtain ablaze by accident.
The mother ran outside, leaving the children behind, while her husband tried to put out the fire on his own and was hospitalized with heavy burns.
The family was not on the police records of troubled families, the Investigative Committee said.
Another child, a one-year-old baby, was staying with his grandmother in Minsk when the fire occurred.
