Officials refuse to step up civilian defenses amid concern about Russian drones

November 11, Pozirk. The Homiel Regional Executive Committee dismissed concerns of Chojniki district’s residents over Russian military drone incursions, according to a document posted on petitions.by in response to their request submitted on October 20.
The regional government will not introduce any additional security measures at local educational facilities, said Rusłan Smirnoŭ, chief of the regional education department.
Drone incursions into Belarus have been regularly reported over the past four months as Russians attack Ukraine. Yesterday, the defense monitoring group Biełaruski Hajun reported at least 10 drone incursions.
In early September, Belarusian air defenses downed several drones over Homiel. Later, Alaksandar Łukašenka admitted drone incursions and claimed that Belarusian air defenses shoot down UAVs regardless of their Russian or Ukrainian origin.
