Rubel up against US dollar at BCSE after plunging since November 6

November 29, Pozirk. The rubel has strengthened to 3.5701 against the US dollar at the November 29 trading session of the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange (BCSE).
The Belarusian currency also rose to 3.795 per euro after hitting a record low of 3.8529 yesterday but fell to 4.9308 per 10 Chinese yuan and 3.2981 per 100 Russian rubles.
In the outgoing week (November 25-29), the rubel lost 4.18 percent of its value against the dollar, 5.63 percent against the euro and 4.08 percent against the Chinese yuan but gained 1.94 percent against the Russian ruble.
The Belarusian currency lost 4.44 percent of its value against the dollar in the first 10 months of 2024.
Last week, economist Anatol Charytončyk played down fears of rubel depreciation, noting that the rubel has not weakened considerably against the central bank’s basket of currencies, which includes the Russian ruble (60 percent), the US dollar (30 percent) and the Chinese yuan (10 percent).
