By_Help appeals for donations citing influx of requests from victims
January 20, Pozirk. By_Help, a major Belarusian initiative helping victims of political persecution, has appealed for donations, citing an influx of requests for help.
“The number of requests to us has doubled after the pre-election crackdown,” founder and director Alaksiej Lavončyk said on Facebook.
“The initiative continues to cover fines, legal costs and other expenses that the regime imposes on the repressed to bankrupt them. Our response time is one day from the moment we receive your application and the moment we contact you, and it takes three weeks to make the payment,” he said.
Lavončyk added that By_Help cannot do without a team working under “the deteriorating security conditions.”
The foundation aims to raise €15,000. As of 4:00 p.m., it received €3,800.
