Belarus allocated 10-year fishing quota in Russia

March 18, Pozirk. Belarus was granted a 10-year fishing quota allowing it to catch 61,000 tons of fish annually in Russian seas, under an amended intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and Russia.

The agreement, signed in 2002, was amended two months ago and published on the National Legal Internet Portal today.

The accord authorizes Belarusian-Russian companies to fish in the Barents, Baltic, Bering and Okhotsk Seas.

In 2023, Belarus imported 185,000 tons of fish and seafood, mostly from Russia. Last year, Russian fish product exports to Belarus rose 22 percent, according to Rosselkhoznadzor, a Russian veterinary authority.
