Belarusians collect $15,000 overnight for prominent writer battling cancer

May 14, Pozirk. The fundraiser to support prominent exiled Belarusian writer Śviatłana Kurs (Jeva Viežnaviec) who is undergoing cancer treatment has collected more than $15,000 after its launch yesterday evening, according to the BySol solidarity fund’s website.

Kurs has been recently diagnosed with advanced-stage ovarian cancer with metastases to the peritoneum and lymph nodes. She lives in Warsaw.

Four years ago, her book “Па што ідзеш, воўча?” (What Is It You Seek, Wolf?) won a prestigious Jerzhy Giedroyc Literary Award.
