Belarusians evacuated from Iran via Baku

June 17, Pozirk. The Belarusian embassies in Baku and Tehran have arranged the evacuation of 20 Belarusian and three Russian nationals from Iran.

According to the embassy in Baku, the Belarusians took a Biełavija flight from there to Minsk this morning.

Earlier, the foreign ministry strongly advised Belarusians against visiting Israel and Iran, citing tension between the two countries.

It said evacuation lists were being compiled in Iran and it was coordinating its operations with Russia.

It also advised Belarusians to flee Israel via a checkpoint between Eilat and Egypt’s Taba.

Since June 13, the Israel Defense Forces has attacked various targets in Iran, mainly military and nuclear facilities as well as state institutions. Its pinpoint strikes have killed commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Armed Forces, intelligence officers and nuclear scientists.

Israel says its goal is to inflict critical damage on Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities.

Iran said it suffered over 1,000 casualties, most of them civilians.
