Viciebsk-based Manalit accused of supplying Russia’s war industry with microchip components

August 13, Pozirk. The Viciebsk-based Manalit electronic plant shipped more than $40 million worth of goods to Russia’s Spets-Elektronkomplekt between February 2022, when Russia launched its full-scale war on Ukraine, and March 2025, the Belarusian Investigative Center (BIC) said.

The Russian company is known as a supplier of microelectronic components for the Russian military-industrial complex, including the Vektor Research Institute developing drone jammers and signal reconnaissance systems, said journalists, citing a source in the logistics industry.

Ceramic capacitors, a key element of microchips, accounted for more than 96 percent of Spets-Elektronkomplekt’s purchases from Manalit, the BIC noted.

Belarus-made capacitors were found in Iskander, Kh-101 and Kalibr missiles that Russia fired on Ukraine, according to a Ukrainian electronics expert.

Manalit’s sales of capacitors surged by 39 percent in 2023 and 85 percent over the first two years of the war, the BIC said, noting that Russia’s Kulon LLC, another supplier to the Russian military-industrial complex, owns a controlling stake in Manalit.

Ukraine sanctioned Manalit (Rus. Monolit) more than two years ago, yet the plant is not targeted by the European Union’s sanctions.
