Aid for ex-tut.by accountant raised in half a day

September 2, Pozirk. Maryja Novik, former deputy chief accountant of Belarus’ embattled Tut.by Media, raised the requested €3,500 in just half a day as she struggles to settle in Poland after fleeing political persecution in Belarus in December 2024.
Novik’s son fought alongside Ukrainian forces against Russia and was killed in action about six months ago.
“Unfortunately, I am facing a difficult financial situation after heavy expenses for the trip to Ukraine and my son’s funeral. I am running out of savings,” said Novik, a former political prisoner, in her fundraiser appeal on the BySol Solidarity Fund platform. “I cannot get a job yet because the legalization process is still under way. My health has deteriorated because of the stress. I have back, endocrinological, and gynecological problems.”
At least 65 Belarusians have been killed fighting alongside the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
