Łukašenka accuses Zelensky of refusing to negotiate peace

October 12, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of unwillingness to negotiate an end to the war with Russia while talking to journalists in Tajikistan’s Dushanbe on the sidelines of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit.
Washington “is very keen to move forward” in the peace settlement process, same as Russia, but Zelensky is a problem, the Belarusian ruler’s press office quoted him as saying. Zelensky must be pressured to take appropriate decisions, he added, ignoring the fact that the Ukrainian leader has repeatedly stated his readiness for talks and a personal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Łukašenka also repeated propaganda narratives, accusing European countries of seeking to seize Ukrainian territories.
“Look at these foolish neighbors to the west of Ukraine,” he said. “Well-known forces and states see themselves in western Ukraine. They are ready to carve out a part of Ukraine, as was the case before the start of the Great Patriotic War. You understand what I am talking about.”
“I hope the president of Ukraine will hear my proposals and understand that no one except the Slavic states will bring him any luck in Ukraine. Therefore, we need to sit down and negotiate,” Łukašenka said.
In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine in which the Belarusian authorities supported the Kremlin, allowing Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions and supplying arms to Moscow.
